Our Weekend Away

This past weekend, we took a road trip down to Austin, TX, to stay with one of Devon’s seminary friends and his family. It was a great time! We relaxed, enjoyed some delicious food, watched Austin Powers, laughed, and played a few party games. We even got to spend some quality time with baby Peter! Isn’t he adorable?

We were also able to stop in Waco, Devon’s former home, on the way down and back. On Saturday, we met up with our friend Chris for milkshakes at Health Camp (ironic, we know). Monday, we stopped by Baylor to sit in on chapel and catch up with Devon’s old co-workers. And of course, how could we stop in Waco and not see Magnolia Market? Needless to say, it was a jam-packed trip with lots of new faces for Katherine to meet, but it was a lot of fun.

This was our first opportunity to go on an extended trip and see how well we travel together. Of course, it went off without a hitch! (Not that we were worried or anything. 😄) It was great practice for future trips, which is good because we’ve got a couple more on the books before we even get to the honeymoon.

It was also a chance for Devon to share an important part of his life with Katherine, something a lot of his friends and family hear stories about but never get to experience for themselves. Even though we’ve been together a while and know each other pretty well, we’re still always learning more and more about each other and sharing even more of our lives with one another. This weekend was a step in that direction for us, and we think that’s pretty special. Plus it means less first-time meetings at our wedding in the fall!

That’s all we’ve got for this little blog post. Thanks for reading up on our weekend getaway! We’ve still got lots of fun outings and wedding planning ahead of us, and we’re really enjoying sharing it with all of you. See you next time!
