One Incredible Summer

Hi, friends! Summer’s coming to a close, so we thought we’d update you on what we’ve been up to. It’s been a remarkably busy time of life, but it’s also been an incredible one. This summer was jam-packed, so here are the highlights.

We had the privilege of helping chaperone a trip with our church’s youth group to Orange Beach, AL, for church camp. We were each put in charge of a room full of teenagers! Fortunately, they made it easy on us. It was fun spending quality time with the teens, playing on the beach, and worshipping God with youth groups from all over.

Our first Fourth of July together came quickly after. And for Devon’s birthday, we went to dinner and saw Ant Man and the Wasp! That may not be everyone’s picture of an ideal birthday celebration, but for us, it was perfect.

The Free Will Baptist National Convention was in Little Rock this year. Devon goes every summer to work with the kids, and Katherine was able to visit for a couple of days and see what it was all about. We’re hoping that we’ll both be able to go for the full week next year in Cincinnati!

We took a few trips to Conway this summer. The first was a quick day trip to get Katherine’s phone repaired. Can you believe the nearest official Samsung repair shop is so far away? Anyway, it was an excuse to take our nephew Aiden and brother Andrew to Tacos 4 Life, so we weren’t complaining.

The next two drives to Conway were for church business, though. One weekend, we took some young adults from our church to a retreat at Camp Beaverfork. And the next weekend, Devon presented a paper at the annual Pillars conference. It was a great time seeing friends from around the state, and we took every opportunity we could to drive down the street to Dairy Queen while we were there!

After all that traveling, it was time to settle in for back-to-school season. Katherine requested to move up to the three-year-old class so that she can work with the same students she’s had the past two years, and her request was approved! She worked long and hard to make her classroom a fun and inviting place for her kids, and it turned out downright pun-tastic. (Seriously, you should go see her room if you get a chance.)

This week was exciting because we got to meet baby Abram. Our good friends Nathan and Shani had their long-awaited second child, and we were invited to visit him in the hospital. He’s so perfect! We didn’t want to give him back, and we’re so excited to get to know Abram as he grows.

Now that summer’s winding down, the final countdown to the wedding begins. We’re a little over a month away, and it’s starting to feel real! Final decisions are being made, the nitty-gritty details are being worked out, and everything’s falling right into place. We can’t wait to celebrate with our friends and family in just a short time!

Progress is still being made on the house, too. We’ve hit a few delays along the way, but we’ll have more to share as everything comes together soon. We can’t wait!

And of course, we’re trying to have fun and enjoy every minute of this time of life. Between work, wedding planning, family time, and shopping for house furnishings, we’ve also been relaxing and just enjoying time together. We finished Boy Meets World and have binge-watched about half of Girl Meets World, and we haven’t given up on the puzzle we started way back when! Don’t worry, we’ll have updates on that and much more very soon.

Thanks for sticking with us. We’re so grateful for the phase of life we’re in and the people who love and support us, and that includes you. We’ll be back with more updates as they come. Until then, we love you guys, and we’ll talk soon!
